Risk Radar Episode 1 – Who is Beraterium?

Episode #1

In the first episode of the **"Risk Radar"** podcast, **Till Blania** and **Peter Münstermann** present the idea behind **Beraterium**: risk management made simple, practical and human.

In the first episode of the "Risk Radar" podcast, Till Blania and Peter Münstermann present the idea behind Beraterium: risk management made simple, practical and human.

With long-standing experience from the corporate and startup worlds, they show how companies can recognise risks early and grow safely – without bureaucracy, but with structure, clarity and responsibility.

Their approach: individual solutions instead of standards, people at the centre, and the conviction that genuine risk management creates both security and opportunity.

Risk management reimagined – with heart, experience and common sense

With the first episode of the "Risk Radar" podcast, Till Blania and Peter Münstermann introduce the people and the idea behind Beraterium, an initiative that finally makes risk management tangible and actionable for small and mid-sized companies.

Because whilst corporations can draw on entire departments for risk analysis and security, founders, startups and SMEs often face the same challenges alone – only with far fewer resources.

That is exactly where Beraterium comes in: risk management on equal terms, pragmatic and human.

Two founders, one goal: making risk understandable

Till and Peter met through social networks – a chance encounter that proved a real stroke of luck. Different professional backgrounds, but a shared mission led to the founding of Beraterium: helping companies understand risks not as threats but as opportunities for development.

Peter brings more than 20 years of experience from a DAX-listed corporation, where he was responsible for information protection, IT security and risk management – up to board level. During that time he recognised: not technology but people are the decisive factor for security and stability.

Till, meanwhile, comes from the world of startups, research and people development. His passion lies in shaping company cultures that foster trust and motivation. With his own analytical method he identifies early where teams are blocked and helps turn problems into potential.

Together they bring two worlds together: corporate-proven methods and modern founder mentality.

Risk management that really fits

The heart of Beraterium is a modular, practical approach tailored individually to each company. No theoretical ISO guides, no over-complicated models, but a system developed together with employees.

"Our goal is not to produce paper, but to create confidence to act," both founders emphasise.

The process begins with an honest inventory: what measures already exist? Where are the weaknesses? Which risks could become relevant in future?

Damage and probability of occurrence are assessed, but always with the knowledge of people in the company, not only from the boardroom. That creates a realistic picture that flows directly into concrete measures.

From practice: when everyday life suddenly becomes risky

How concrete and fast the Beraterium approach works is shown by an example from the podcast episode:
An entrepreneur had converted their sole proprietorship into a GmbH but failed to appoint themselves as managing director (due to poor advice beforehand). The result: no salary, no insurance cover, a risk that is easily overlooked but can have massive consequences.

Beraterium identified the problem immediately, resolved it within a day and is now helping build structures for secure growth.
The case shows what Till and Peter are really about: not talking about risks, but solving them before they cause damage.

Philosophy: people at the centre

Whether startup, craft business or family company – Beraterium works with people, not only with numbers.

"We want our clients to be able to sleep peacefully again at night," Peter says in the podcast.

That only works when trust, responsibility and competence come together. That is why no consultancy ends with an analysis: implementation always follows, step by step, practically and with real results.

Outlook: sharing knowledge, creating security

With the "Risk Radar" podcast, Till and Peter will share insights from their knowledge every week:

  • How do companies recognise their biggest risks?
  • How can risk management be implemented simply and cost-effectively?
  • And why is it especially important for startups to build on a stable foundation early on?

The podcast is both invitation and inspiration – to everyone who wants to grow their company safely and sustainably.

Or, as Peter puts it at the end of the first episode:

"Risk management does not mean being afraid. It means being prepared and making the right decisions with a clear head."
